Reconnected: Let's Get Back to Food
Three years since I left Japan. Three years and countless hours of deep digging into myself - my sense of self - and in grinding through this healing journey. Where has it taken me? And, has it taken me too far? At what point does healing become…unhealthy?
I think you saw how unhealthy I got at one point. I had a very challenging relationship with food post-Covid, and I've slowly, very slowly, been finding a way to get comfortable with what was once a big part of me, to integrate with the parts of me that I was rejecting.
But this video isn't about that. I’m going to talk about my spiritual journey, how it’s helped me, and the parts where it has not only hurt me, but also hurt those around me. Healing isn’t a binary, going from unhealthy to healthy; healing is a spectrum, and if you do too much of it, you can end up just as unhealthy as you were before.
If you’re more interested in food and travel, though, great! I'm excited about it again! I’ve got two more videos in the works. My What to Eat in Lisbon guide is filmed, and now in the editing process, and we’re filming another great food video this week as well. I hope you like them when they're ready. Back to showing you great spots to add to your list of where to eat in Lisbon and Portugal.
Much thanks to Christopher Michael @camcat for being such a huge part of this process. If you’re in Portugal and you need a film/editing guy who knows his shit, ping Camcat.pt.
Also, for those of you on the path, I’d like to share a small map of the woods I’ve walked through, and at what point I found my way out. The only way out is through. I’m working on a short book as well, which will go up on my Patreon in the coming months. I’m more than 50% done the project, which is going in a direction that I haven’t heard any of the wellness community talk about yet, except in brief passing. I’ve put together a lot of the different ideas I gathered from the many different modalities of therapy I’ve experienced and studied, different aspects of the mystic side of Buddhism, neuroscience and psychology, linguistics and emotions, longevity and health, and more. If you’re interested, please consider supporting me on www.patreon.com/simonsbookclub.

A Little Bit of Graça, Lisbon
Переглядів 24 тис.Рік тому
I love this part of Lisbon, and really felt inspired by it lately. I’m regularly seeing artists spend hours working on these pieces. Graca has some pieces that I see tourists stopping and there are some famous pieces here, along with some beautiful murals lining dead end streets that nobody seems to walk through. I just put together some shots that I really love the look of. I hope you like the...
How Emotions Are Made: Interview with the Author Part 1 - The Body Budget

For the past six videos, I've been digging through Lisa Feldman Barrett's "How Emotions Are Made," and really trying to understand the Theory of Constructed Emotion. In these videos, we went from debunking some old ideas about the brain and emotions, to understanding Interoception, Emotional Concepts, Patterning, Projection, and most importantly to me, the idea of the Body Budget, which is a gr...
How to Master Your Emotions

In Part 5 of this deep dive into Lisa Feldman Barrett’s “How Emotions Are Made,” we’re going to look over some of the suggestions in her chapter on Mastering Your Emotions. Now that we understand what emotions are (and have a better understanding of what they aren’t), we can look at how to have clearer emotional signals, so that we don’t get them confused with other signals our bodies are givin...

Yea they couldn't handle the 9mm. Desert eagle was not the gun they should be firing
You didn't have her wear a low cut top so she could do the "hot brass" dance?
Thanks!
Coming back to this makes my heart ache 😢
대충 2010년도 초반이네. 저 시절에 저쪽으로 지하철 통근 했었는데 아직도 기억이 생생하네요 ㅋㅋㅋ
The relationship probably drained him and turned him into someone he didn’t really want to be in his gut, but had trouble disconnecting himself from the image he already began to portray online. he is probably tired of acting/constantly being “up” for the camera and is exploring his authenticity. His body is rejecting his whole other identity he held onto while with martina and you can see the real him peeking out at times. With such an identity crisis it’s important to stabilize so that he’s not going in a pendulum swing style of rejecting his old identity. Affirming that it’s okay for him to have these new interests & try new things is wonderful! He probably felt very tied down, maybe helplessly controlled by his relationship and work with martina. Nothing wrong with martina or her work, simply two different lives veering off in different directions. I bet he has a resentment for UA-cam? I wonder if the broadcasting of their relationship is what made it difficult for him to stand up for himself sometimes. Anyways. This is my brief analysis..
5:49 is so hawkward now lol (Edit: I was gonna remove the typo but yet its also awkward 🦅ward lols)

@@Biden03321 they divorced a few years ago, they now have their own channels, Martina's "King Kogi"!
Just secured a reservation for my family this summer. Can't wait!!!!!!
12 years later and I finally realize that "4rangea" is meant to mean "Saranghae"

He’s so well behaved! Miss you little guy 😢
Late to this party, but where can I find your specific recipe? The eatyourkinchi site appears to be dead. If necessary, I'll have to copy the text from the video...
“I’m gonna keep doing this for 20 years! 40 years!” Well this didn’t age well
“Now he’s literally my spirit animal” Martina 🥺🥺🥺🥺
What is the culinary skill here ? Eating small amounts of raw food at such a high price ? I mean chinese , indian , mexican , spanish , french , african etc all have some culinary element : fried , boiled , herbs , spices , frying or boiling right etc .What is here ? So much overhyped ? Prone to worms in stomach (japanese scientists have said so too) Then you have the idea of having puffer fish !! Why not eat some items raw fresh , then cook it properly with some herbs and spices and have it fresh ?
Hard beds or sleeping on a floor - accupressure points are activated - so good for your health !!!!!
You guys act so much that I find it really annoying
Who would have thought I’d end up here almost a decade later
Rest in peace Spudgy. We miss you. ❤
😢😢😢 watching in 2024
I still come back to this video 10 years later 🥲
I'm looking for a lady called Natalie in Warsaw. I'm a Sri Lankan ,My name is Asoka. 🎉❤❤❤
Amazing visual description of dim sum.
I can't believe u let her go. Id do anything to marry someone like martina
Couldn’t get pat the top knot and the beard 🤦
When you were saying all that mumbo jumbo about nothing being real, I was like “what the crap happened to Simon?” So glad that you revealed you came back to center!
I Love it!!! Happy to see you Simon
Watching this before Simon deletes it! I don’t care who hates me for hating Simon, I don’t support a narcissistic abuser
They looked up happy 😢
Martina always seemed like the creative brain of eatyourkimchi, I was not interested in what Simon had to say, just goofy and inaccurate. Before I moved to Korea we did watch the channel to get some insight in Korea (2016). It was helpful. Korea has changed a lot in almost 10 years so hold on to your memories.
조쉬 다른사람 놀니더니 오늘당하는 날이네요 ㅎㅎㅎ
"It's not huge epic trips to hawaii" is it Simon.
Suwon samsung bluewings supporters are Asia NO.1
Glad it is up. Still best officetel Korea tour out there.
Watching this made me realize EatYourKimchi even though it was shared by Simon and Martina… was completely Martina’s personality. I love that.
Cute dog by the way

I missed you guys.❤
I'm watching this in Apr 2024. Now I understand how the fascist cabal took over Canada so easily !
When he holds her face…sighhhh. Sad everything that happened.
Dayum i jusw a video about portable foot bath from 8 years ago. Saw that there were 1 mili subs and thought maybe it was a dead channel. This was tough to watch
Expats are foreigners with privilege - let's never forget that.
Tbh you aren't really saying goodbye to EYK, you were and are EYK. That has been made extremely clear seeing the things that have not been posted by you that are 1000% not what EYK ever was. It's been so delightful to see you continue to bring the spirit and everything that made EYK unique, special, and amazing to the king kogi channel. It's very sad, as someone who really loved the whole EYK spirit and community, to see what it is being made into now, which is so vastly opposite to the magic that EYK was. I am sorry that Simon hasn't had much success on his other channel and seems to feel the need to exploit this channel and it's subscriber count and turn it into something that is so not at all what it was created to be. But I am overjoyed to see that the EYK joy and spirit is still going on with your new channel. You continue to be a blessing to so many of us. So no it's not really goodbye, it's let's take this party to a new home that suits us so much better!!
I miss seeing you regularly. I’ve always thought that your such a sweet guy
2024 and I’m here ❤🎉
I'm trying my best too. Please take a look at the video. Sake is the best!
